Hood wins WCC Freshman of the Week for third straight week

SAN BRUNO, Calif.- Gonzaga pitcher Landon Hood has been named the WCC Freshman of the Week for the third straight week. 

Hood secured his fourth save of the season on Saturday with a perfect outing. He struck out all seven batters that he faced. He appeared to get one out against Oregon earlier in the week, also striking out on batter in one at bat. Hood allowed no hits across 2.2 scoreless innings of work and secured a perfect 27 K/9 locking in every single out via the strikeout. He allowed just one walk while producing a 0.38 WHIP over the week. Hood has won the last three consecutive conference freshman of the week awards and now owns six total this season. This is the sixth time this season that Hood has been named the WCC Freshman of the week. Hood did not give up a run in April across 10.1 innings of work. He had 21 strikeouts in April while giving up just three hits. Hood has a 2.75 ERA and a .163 batting average against.
