Bulldogs set for inaugural Pac-12 season with challenging slate
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's soccer ushers in a new era this fall as the Bulldogs begin their first season as members of the Pac-12 Conference, highlighting a challenging 2026 schedule that features 11 opponents coming off winning records, three NCAA Tournament participants and three reigning conference champions.
The 19-match regular-season schedule includes nine home contests at Luger Field and eight Pac-12 Conference matches. Three opponents on Gonzaga's schedule; Washington, Texas State and Utah State, qualified for the 2025 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship, while Washington (Big Ten), Texas State (Sun Belt) and Utah State (Mountain West) enter the season as reigning conference champions.
Gonzaga opens exhibition play Aug. 8 against Mount Royal in Columbia Falls, Mont., before officially opening the regular season Aug. 12 against South Florida at Luger Field. The Bulldogs' nonconference schedule also features home matches against Arizona, Wyoming, and Montana, along with road contests at Oregon, New Mexico, Washington, Seattle, Creighton and Idaho.
The Aug. 27 trip to Washington pits the Zags against a Husky squad that advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals a season ago. GU will also renew longtime regional rivalries against Montana and Idaho, carrying a 10-4-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Vandals. The Sept. 13 matchup at Creighton marks just the second meeting between the two programs after the schools battled to a 1-1 draw in their only previous meeting in 2022.
History will be made on Oct. 4 when Gonzaga travels to Boise State for the program's first-ever Pac-12 Conference match. Four days later, the Bulldogs visit Colorado State before returning home Oct. 11 to host Fresno State in the first Pac-12 home match in program history. GU has won both previous meetings with Colorado State and will look to continue that success in Fort Collins.
The Zags remain home the following weekend to welcome Washington State on Oct. 17. Gonzaga earned a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Cougars in the teams' most recent meeting in 2024. The regular-season finale will be in Spokane against Oregon State on Nov. 5. Conference road trips to reigning Sun Belt champion Texas State and San Diego State, along with a home matchup against defending Mountain West champion Utah State, are also in Gonzaga's inaugural Pac-12 schedule.
