LOS ANGELES - UCLA's Ben Francisco went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove home 6 runs Sunday afternoon at the Bruins (2-2) defeated Gonzaga (1-2) 12-6 in the series finale at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Francisco delivered all of his damage courtesy of two home runs.

Gonzaga jumped on the board first with two runs in their half of the second inning. Jeff Culpepper and Kevin Cave drove home the Zags early runs with RBI singles. Francisco then tied the game with his first home run of the afternoon a two-run shot off Bulldogs starter Ed Clelland (0-1).

The Bruins would again get to Clelland in the fifth inning as they scored five runs to break open the contest. Billy Susdorf had the big hit of the inning with an two-run double.

Francisco would finish off his productive afternoon in the sixth inning with a grand slam. Gonzaga made a small rally in the top of the seventh as Kemp Quackenbush hit a two-run home run and John Gebbers drove home a run with a sacrifice fly.

Nate Gold would cap off the Zags scoring the in the eighth inning with a solo home run. UCLA starter Casey Janssen (1-0) pitched five innings allowing two runs to pick up the win.

Culpepper was the only Gonzaga player with multiple hits finishing the game 3-for-4. Four Bruins reached multiple hits with Francisco leading the way with four.

Gonzaga returns to action next weekend with a three-game series at California. The opening game of the series is set for Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
