SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's volleyball head coach Kip Yoshimura has announced his resignation after seven seasons with the Bulldogs.
"I have truly enjoyed my time at Gonzaga. I have been able to coach some outstanding student-athletes and work alongside some great colleagues," said Yoshimura. "With that said, I believed it was time to pursue opportunities elsewhere in the coaching profession."
Yoshimura compiled a 58-150 overall record while at Gonzaga and a 17-81 mark in West Coast Conference action. Six players earned WCC All-Conference honors during his tenure and four garnered All-Academic accolades.
Yoshimura led the 2007 squad to the Bulldogs best finish in 14 years with a 17-13 overall record. This season the Zags tied for sixth in the conference with a 3-11 mark; their highest finish in eight seasons.
"We thank Kip for his dedication to Gonzaga and the volleyball program," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "We wish him well in his future endeavors."
Roth said Heather Gores, associate athletic director, will conduct an immediate search for Yoshimura's successor.
