MOSCOW, Idaho. - Gonzaga University had three players post singles victories but the Bulldogs came out just one point short of claiming a non-conference victory over the University of Idaho Tuesday evening. The Vandals won two of the three doubles matches which proved to be the difference in the match as Idaho earned a 4-3 win.
Gonzaga (9-10) had its No. 1 doubles pairing of senior Aglaya Kokurina and freshman Kristina Zauere post an 8-5 win over the Vandals' top pairing.
The Zags won three of the six singles matches as Kokurina won at No. 2 singles and Zauere posted her team-leading 14th win of the season with a win at No. 3 singles. After dropping the first set 6-0, freshman Madeline Edson-White completed an impressive comeback with 7-6, 1-0 wins in the next two sets to earn a win for the Zags at No. 6 singles.
Just three matches remain for the Bulldogs before they head to San Diego, Calif. for the West Coast Conference Championships Apr. 17-19. This Saturday the Zags host the University of Portland and Seattle University at the Spokane Racquet Club.
