OMAHA, Neb. - Gonzaga University senior-to-be Kyle Huus shot a final-round 1-over par 72 Thursday to finish tied for fifth at 292 at the 102nd Nebraska Amateur Championship golf tournament at the par 71, 6,750-yard Happy Hollow Club.
Huus, from Sidney, tied with John Sajevic of Fremont, whose son Andy fired a final-round 69 to overtake third-round leader Ryan Nietfeldt of Omaha and finish at 2-under 282 for medalist honors, the only golfer to break par. Nietfeldt finished alone in second at even par 284.
Huus played the front nine in even par Thursday and was 1-over on the back nine. After posting four birdies on his way to an opening-round 70, Huus made just seven more birdies over the final three rounds. He had 44 pars, 15 bogeys and a pair of double-bogeys over the 72 holes.
