SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's cross country and track head
Pat Tyson announced the signing of a talented trio for the 2019-20 season on Tuesday.
Ben Brown
Portland, Ore. | Central Catholic High School
At Central Catholic, Brown placed fourth at the 2018 Oregon 6A Cross Country State Championships at 15:42. He helped lead his team to a sixth state title in the last seven years. Brown was named the 2018 Mt. Hood Conference cross country runner of the year, along with picking up three individual wins during his senior season.
During his junior season, Brown placed 16th at the Oregon 6A Cross Country State Championships, and 14th in the 3,000 meters at the Oregon Track and Field Championships.
"I chose Gonzaga because I can see that it is a place that nurtures both academics and community, and encourages you to be a part of something that is bigger than yourself," Brown said. "The school's cross-country program is led by a coach and runners who are all in it for each other, pushing each other to their absolute limits for success as a whole, rather than as individuals."
Kyle Radosevich
Ridgefield, Wash. | Ridgefield High School
Radosevich finished off his senior season with a second-place finish in the 2A WIAA Cross Country State Championships. He placed fifth at the Danner Championship race at Nike Portland XC. At the Nike Hole-in-the Wall, he placed fifth with a time of 15:09.2. This past fall, he was named The Columbian's All-Region Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.
In his first year on the track as a junior, Radosevich ran the 3,200 meters, winning his league and district titles, and placing sixth in the 2A WIAA State Meet.
"I chose Gonzaga because it has the right combination of everything I am looking for," Radosevich said. "It is an excellent school, has outstanding coaches and has a great tight-knit team atmosphere! After meeting the team, I knew this was the right school for me."
Riley Moore
Richland, Wash | Richland High School
As a junior, Moore placed sixth in the 1,600 meters at the WIAA 4A state championships at 4:15.73. He won the Eastern Washington Regional Championship in the 1,600-meters in 2018. Moore is the only athlete ever to win the Mid-Columbia Conference cross country title four times. He ran a personal record of 15:25 in the 5,000 meters.
"I felt it was the perfect place for me to improve in my education and running," Moore said. "The team keeps each other accountable to perform at the highest standard."
