PULLMAN, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team faced a tough Washington State squad and fell 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in Pullman, Wash.
GU fell behind 1-0 after the doubles portion and then WSU added the first two singles matches to finish before GU got on the board with a singles win.
Haruna Tsuruta notched the victory for GU on No. 3 with a straight set win onver Savanna Ly-Nguyen, 7-5, 6-4.
Kate Ketels was in a tight battle on No. 2, taking the first set 6-3 before falling in the second 6-0. She went on to nearly force a tiebreaker when the match went unfinished at 5-6 in the third set.
GU will be back on the road next weekend with a pair of matches in East Lansing, Mich., against Michigan State and Xavier. Check GoZags.com for links to live coverage.
