SPOKANE, Wash.- The Gonzaga women's tennis team defeated the Montana for the second time this season, winning 6-1. The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 on the year while the Griz dropped to 1-3.

The Zags started off their lead early by dominating all three courts for doubles. At No. 2,
Kate Ketels and
Taylor Gruber were the first to finish, defeating Lauren Dunlap and Alex Walker 6-3.
Adrianna Sosnowska and
Hannah Jones finished next on court 1 winning 6-3 against Montana's Julia Ronney and Olivia Oosterbaan. While the Bulldogs had already claimed the doubles point, No. 3 doubles
Cate Broerman and
Haruna Tsuruta came back from a 1-4 deficit to win their match 7-5.

"It was a good team win today," said Assistant Coach
Natalie Pluskota-Hamberg. "We got some great practice in before heading on the road, and we are looking forward to our trip to Arizona this weekend."

Gonzaga built upon its doubles win in singles play, with two courts claiming wins early. At No. 6 singles, Gruber was the first to finish winning 6-0, 6-3 against Montana's Walker. Broerman was next to finish on court three defeating Dunlap 6-1, 6-2. It was
Jenna Sloan who gave the Zags their fourth point of the match, clinching the match win. Sloan competed against Ivayla Mitkova and won 6-2, 6-3.

The other three courts played their matches out, winning two of them and losing one. Tsuruta won her match on court 4 against Maria Goheen 6-4, 6-2. At No. 1 singles, Ketels dropped the first set in a tie break 6-7 (4-7) and wasn't able to make a comeback the second set, losing 4-6. Sosnowska was able to win her match after a grueling three sets. She lost her first set in tie break losing 6-7 (5-7) but won the second set in an easy 6-3. The third set also went into tie break which she was able to win 7-6 (9-7) giving the Zags their sixth point of the match.
