TUCSON, Ariz. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team snagged two singles wins and a doubles win in a 5-2 loss at Arizona Saturday morning at the LeNelle Robinson Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz. Arizona clinched the match win early, but the remaining matches played out for the 5-2 final.
Gonzaga (5-3) lost the doubles point early as Arizona's Abby Amos and Talya Zandberg bested
Kate Ketels and
Taylor Gruber 6-1 at No. 2 while Jelena Lukic and Kayla Williams clinched with a 6-4 win over
Cate Broerman and
Haruna Tsuruta. GU's
Adrianna Sosnowska and
Hannah Jones grabbed a victory with a 7-5 edge over Gitte Heynemans and Khim Iglupas at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Arizona clinched the match win with victories at Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 6. Tsuruta batted for a big tiebreak win at No. 3, coming from a set down to defeat Zandberg 2-6, 61, 1-0(10-5). Broerman collected GU's second and final singles win at No. 4 with a 7-6(7-5), 6-4 win over the Wildcats' Amos.
