SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced the 2020 Women's Rowing All-Academic Team Friday morning. Seventeen student-athletes were named to the first team, including four Bulldogs led by three-time honoree
Schuyler Peters, two-time recipient
Zoe Calambokidis along with first-time honorees
Kaley Grau and
Alexandra Moeller. Ten Zags also collected WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention Honors.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to their team.
Peters was named to the first team for the third-straight season. Peters, the 2021 WCC Co-Coxswain of the Year, coxed the varsity eight all season, helping to lead the Zags to a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Rowing Championships after leading the Zags to their sixth-straight WCC Championships Title. The Lake Forest Park, Wash., native double-majored in French and political science with a 3.94 cumulative GPA. Calambokidis earned her second first team honor after being selected first team back in 2019. Calambokidis rowed for the varsity eight throughout the 2021 season and was also named All-WCC First Team. The Olympia, Wash., native finished the year with a 3.88 cumulative GPA while studying political science.
Both Grau and Moeller were each selected to the first team for the first time in their careers. Grau, a sophomore from San Jose, Calif., rowed with the second varsity eight all season, helping the Zags to a 22nd-place finish at the NCAA Rowing Championships and a second-place finish at the WCC Championships. Grau is pursuing a degree in nursing and carries a cumulative 3.89 GPA. Moeller also rowed with the second varsity eight during the 2021 season. The junior from Newport Beach, Calif., is pursuing a degree in psychology and carries a 3.86 cumulative GPA.
No fewer than 80 student-athletes qualified for academic honors. More than 50 posted a GPA of at least 3.50, while 33 posted marks of 3.75 or better.
