SPOKANE, Wash. -- Three Gonzaga men's soccer players were named to the 2022 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, including, Kupa'a Fernandez, Chris Swider, and Wylie Trujillo.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Trujillo saw action in all 18 games this season and started in 17 of those. He recorded three goals on the year and took 18 shots, with nine of those on goal. He currently has a 3.77 GPA and is majoring in Accounting and Business Administration.

Fernandez played in 18 games for the Zags this past year and started in 14. Playing as a key defender for GU, he recorded an assist and took six shots this past season. Majoring in 

Accounting and Business Administration, Fernandez maintains a 3.76 GPA.

Swider is currently a sophomore majoring in Human Physiology and has a 3.63 GPA. Swider was a key player off the bench this year that saw action in 14 games as a midfielder. 

The Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA in their undergraduate year, have a minimum of one year completed at their current institution and be a starter or key reserve player, athletically.
