GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Gonzaga men's golf team wrapped up their first tournament of the spring on Tuesday at the Loyola Intercollegiate. The tournament was played at Palm Valley Golf Club and was hosted by Loyola Maryland.

Gonzaga finished in 12th place at 13-over par (877). The Bulldogs posted their best team score of the tournament in the final round, combining to shoot three-under (285) on the day. Three Zags shot under-par in Round 3, and the team combined for 58 pars, 16 birdies and one eagle. They finished the tournament with a total of 158 pars and 45 birdies.

Zach Stocker rose four spots on the individual leaderboard and finished in a tie for 38th at one-over (217). His final round (-1, 71) was highlighted with zero bogeys in his final 13 holes, which also included two of his three birdies on the day. His tournament total of 37 pars were tied for third-most of any individual and two shy of the tournament best.

Jace Minni continued to climb the individual leaderboard on Tuesday. After jumping up 12 spots on Monday, the sophomore rose nine more spots to finish in a tie for 51st at four-over (220). In Round 3, Minni shot one-under (71) and made five pars and seven birdies along the way.

Teammate Charlie Magruder also finished in a tie for 51st at four-over (220). He shot two-over (74) in the final round and made 11 pars, one birdie, and Gonzaga's lone eagle. His eagle came on the course's second hole, a 515-yard par 5. Magruder's eagle was one of 11 recorded on the hole throughout the tournament, and one of six on the day.

Matthew Ruel made the biggest jump for Gonzaga on the day, climbing 13 spots on the leaderboard and finishing in a tie for 70th place at seven-over (223). He turned in a nearly bogey-free final round, shooting one-under (71) and making 15 pars and two birdies. Andrew Reinhardt shot even-par (72) in his final round to finish in a tie for 91st place at 13-over (229).

Middle Tennessee State's Kevin Jegers finished atop the individual leaderboard, shooting seven-under (65) in Tuesday's final round to finish 16-under par (200). Jegers was at the top of the leaderboard all three days and finished three strokes ahead of Utah Valley's Joseph Glenn (-13, 203). Middle Tennessee State also won the team title at 29-under (835), edging Utah Valley by one stroke (-28, 836).

The Zags are back in action on March 7-8 in Spring, Texas, for the Colin Montgomerie HBU Invitational. The tournament is a two-day affair and will be played at Augusta Pines Golf Club. Live scoring will be available at GoZags.com.
