Box Score Spokane, Wash. - The Zags took down Eastern Washington at the Stevens Center Saturday to move them to 4-3 on the season with a 7-0 match win. Eastern, who was down a player, only won two sets on the day.
In the doubles competition, Jenna Sloan and Frederikke Svarre won by forfeit as Eastern's sixth player was injured and could not compete. On court one, Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska took down Yasmin Mansouri and Isabella Foshee by the score of 6-2. Tiegan Aitken and Kianna Oda did not finish their match, but led 4-3 when the match was suspended.
The Zags started the singles competition with a 2-0 lead after winning doubles and winning the forfeited singles match again due to an injury. Caroline Wernli earned this victory.
On court two, Adrianna Sosnowska cruised to a victory taking down Scout Mathews, 6-1, 6-3, putting the Zags one win away from a match win.
That victory would come soon after as Cate Broerman defeated Yasmin Mansouri, 6-3, 6-0, clinching the 4-0 match victory for Gonzaga.
The Zags and Eastern decided to play out the singles matches which were all won by Gonzaga.
Jenna Sloan won her match, taking down Renata Gabuzyan, 6-3, 6-2. This match victory was followed by Tiegan Aitken taking down Kenzington Mann, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3, putting the Zags up 6-0. The final match of the day was also the most exciting as it went into a set three super-tiebreaker with Kianna Oda pulling off the victory, 7-6[5], 4-6, 1-0[5].
