DEXTER LAKE, Oregon — The Gonzaga Women's Rowing team placed second in all four races today at the Oregon State Invite on Dexter Lake. The field included Oregon State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego and Portland. 

"I am proud of the effort today," head coach Andrew Derrick said. "The team did a much better job of traveling and racing well compared to the same race last year so always nice to see improvement. I saw some good execution from some crews and some clear needing improvement areas, so we'll work on those and hopefully be ready for WSU next weekend."

In the 1V8 race, the Zags placed second with a time of 6:39.8 while Oregon State took first with a finishing time of 6:29.6. The Bulldogs placed ahead of the three other boats from the WCC in the race, San Diego, Loyola Marymount and Portland. 

During the 2V8 competition, GU took second as they finished in 6:55.4, only behind OSU's 6:43.3 finishing time. Gonzaga's 3V8 boat also competed in the 2V8 race and took fifth with a time of 7:11.4, besting Portland's 2V8 boat that finished in 7:29.5.

The V4 boat placed second in 7:34.3, only behind Oregon State's finish of 7:33.0. In the 2V4 race, the Bulldogs had two boats competing with the A boat taking second with a finishing time of 8:02.9. The B boat placed third with a time of 8:29.4.

Up Next: Gonzaga travels to Washington State University next Saturday, April 30.
