FRESNO, Calif. – Gonzaga men's golfer
Zach Stocker carded a 68 (-3) in the final round of the Nick Watney Invitational to finish in a tie for 20
th. The Bulldogs placed 10
th in the tournament.
Stocker's third round featured four birdies and 13 pars. He ended the two-day event at one-under (212). The senior finished the tournament with a 2.83 (-2) average on the course's Par-3 holes.
As a team, GU was two-under (2.97) on Par-3 holes. The Zags led the 16-team field making 178 pars over the 54 holes. Gonzaga remained in 10
th place in the final round with a 286 (+2) total. The Bulldogs finished 10-over (862) in the tournament.
Ethan Flynn was three-over (74) in Round 3. He tied for 37
th at two-over (215). The freshman made 12 pars and two birdies Tuesday. Flynn made the fifth-most pars in the event with 38.
Jace Minni and
Guillermo Polo Bodart both tied for 54
th at six-over (219). Polo Bodart was one-under (70) in the final round, while Minni was three-over (74). In his second collegiate event, Polo Bodart made 39 pars, the fourth-most in the 93-golfer field. He made 17 on Day 2, with one birdie, in a bogey-free round.
Brentt Salas tied for 76
th at 11-over (224).
Long Beach State won the team title led by a medalist finish from Ian Gilligan. The 49ers won the tournament by five strokes, finishing 30-under (822). Gilligan defeated CSU-Fullerton's Harry Doig on the second hole (No. 8) of a sudden death playoff. Both golfers were 14-under (199). Gilligan carded a tournament-low 64 (-7) in the second round, while Doig was six-under (65) in the final round.
