STANFORD, Calif. -- The Gonzaga women's tennis team continued their performance at the ITA Regionals earlier this afternoon. Today's participation wraps up the second of four total fall tournaments the Zags are scheduled to participate in.
In the Consolation Draw of the singles competition, Gonzaga's Caroline Wernli earned a victory when San Jose State's Olaya Bances Iglesias withdrew from their match due to injury. Gonzaga's Kianna Oda also battled, but lost her match to UC Davis's Carly Schwartzberg by a score of 6-2, 3-6, 11-9. Gonzaga's Tiegan Aitken fell 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 against Santa Clara's Jenna Gordon.
Four other Zags also competed in today's singles competition. Gonzaga's Lia Espinal dropped her match against California State's Hannah Pieper by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Shortly after, Gonzaga's Emily Robertson lost her match 6-4, 6-1 to California State's Misaki Kobayashi. Gonzaga's Rose Hayes dominated, earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Eastern Washington's Sara Vasic in straight sets. In the final match of the day for the Zags, Ella Nielsen clinched an impressive 6-3, 7-6 win against Oregon's Tilde Jagare.

Following today's action, the Gonzaga women's tennis team will prepare for the Gonzaga Invite, which is scheduled to start on October 27th at the Stevens Center.
