SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's and women's cross country programs have announced their fall schedule. Both teams are looking to continue their momentum as they ascend from a pair of historic seasons in 2021 and 2022.
The season opens at the Clash of the Inland Northwest on Sept. 1, where the men look to capture their seventh straight team title. In 2021, Gonzaga swept the team titles and nearly did so again in 2022.
Next, the women's squad heads to Malibu, Calif. on Sept. 9 for the Waves Invite. Both teams will then travel to Colfax, Wash. on Sept. 15 for the Cougar Classic. After that, the men travel to Minneapolis, Minn. on Sept. 22 for the Roy Griak Invitational.
On Sept. 29, the GU women will travel to Chicago, Ill. to compete in the Lakefront Invite while the men take a short trip to Walla Walla for the Whitman Invitational on Sept. 30.
On Oct. 13-14, GU will run a split-squad as part of the men's team heads to Madison, Wis. on the 13th for the Nuttycombe Invitational, an event which hosted 19 of the nation's top 30 teams in 2022. Similarly, part of the women's team will travel to Santa Clara, Calif. on the 14th for the Bronco Invite, while the rest of both teams meet up in Lewiston, Idaho on the 14th for the Inland Empire Classic. Last season, the Gonzaga men and women each placed second at that event.
On Oct. 25, the two teams will compete in their final regular season event at the Sasquatch Invite in Spokane, a midweek event hosted by Spokane Community College.
The Zags' postseason will begin on Oct. 28 at the West Coast Conference Championships in Malibu, Calif. Both teams look to surpass their performances last year where the men placed second and the women placed fourth.
This year's NCAA West Regionals will also take place in California, as Sacramento State is set to host the event. In 2022, the men recorded their best-ever finish at the event, placing second and clinching their first automatic bid to the NCAA Championships in program history.
This year's NCAA Championships will take place in Charlottesville, Va. The men look to build off a historic finish in last year's event, where they placed 13th and knocked off three teams ranked higher than them.
