Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. --  Earlier this afternoon, the Gonzaga women's team continued their spring nonconference schedule with a competitive match against Cal Poly. Entering today's event, the Zags held a historical record of 1-3 against the Mustangs, dropping their last match in 2022 by a close score of 4-3.

Today's action opened with the doubles competition, as Cal Poly's Delanie Dunkle and Peyton Dunkle earned a 6-1 win over Gonzaga's Kianna Oda and Emily Robertson in the No.1 spot. Shortly after, Cal Poly clinched the doubles point on court two when Melissa LaMette and Romane Mosse defeated Gonzaga's Ella Nielsen and Tiegan Aitken by a score of 6-3. In the No.3 spot, the match between Gonzaga's Brooke Bittner and Lia Espinal and Cal Poly's Kennedy Buntrock and Alexandra Ozerets went unfinished, ending with a score of 3-5.

Transitioning to the singles matches, Robertson tied the competition with an early victory for the Zags, defeating Delanie Dunkle on court one by a score of 6-2, 6-2. In the No.3 spot, Cal Poly regained the lead when Peyton Dunkle earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Aitken. Cal Poly extended their lead when Mosse picked up a 6-3, 6-3 court five victory over Gonzaga's Caroline Wernli.

The Mustangs clinched the team victory on court four, as Buntrock defeated Nielsen by a score of 6-2, 6-4. In the No.2 spot, Oda battled, but lost 6-2, 6-7, 10-6 in her match against LaMette. In the final match of the day, Ozerets claimed a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Espinal on court six.

Up Next: Following today's match, the Gonzaga women's tennis team will look to bounce back against Washington on Saturday, January 27th at 1 pm. The Zags will return to the Stevens Center on February 10th, when they are scheduled to face New Mexico at 12 pm.
