SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's tennis team started their road trip with a 6-1 victory over UC San Diego.
UC San Diego took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
Sasha Trkulja and
Matthew Hollingworth took the one victory for the Zags on court one with a score of 6-4.
Leon Roider and
Gus Krauel teamed up on court two as the Trojans took the match, 6-4.
Pablo Gomez Galvan and
Oscar Rashed also teamed up in the No. 3 spot and fell 6-3.
In singles,
Sasha Trkulja competed on court one and came out on top with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Carson Lee to tie the match at 1-1.
Matthew Hollingworth brought the team score to 2-1 with a win on court two. He won 6-1, 6-3 over Phillip Lan.
Tom Dunlop was the next Zag to finish his match with a 6-3, 6-0, win over Charles Quian on court six to push GU to a 3-1 lead.
Leon Roider clinched the match for Gonzaga with a 6-4, 6-3, victory over Diogo Tinoco in the No. 3 spot.
Even after clinching the match 4-1, the Zags kept on top with a three-set battle victory by
Oscar Rashed on court five. Rashed defeated Zach Pellouchoud, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Rounding out the match was
Pablo Gomez Galvan who won his match on court four. He also went to a three-set battle with Pelayo Rodriguez, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5.
