BEAVERTON, Ore. — In one of its last non-conference match of the season, the Gonzaga men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Portland State.
In the doubles competition, both courts one and two won for GU to claim the doubles point. Sasha Trkulja and Matthew Hollingworth won 6-2 in the No. 1 spot while Pablo Gomez Galvan and Leon Roider won 6-4 on court two.
Moving on to singles play, Hollingworth won on court two over Jane Semerak, 6-4, 6-3, to bring Gonzaga's lead to 2-0.
Gomez Galvan won the next match in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-2, over Simon Kuszynski to bring it to 3-0 for GU.
Roider clinched the match on court three with a 6-3, 6-3, victory over Hembo Mathiasen.
On court six, Tom Dunlop continued the success for the Zags with a three set battle. In the first set, Dunlop fell 3-6 but came back to win the next two sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Oscar Rashed defeated Cade Edwards in the fifth spot, 7-5, 6-2, to make it 6-0 for the Zags.
Rounding out competition on the day was a tight three set battle in court one with Trkulja and Luka Jovanovic. Trkulja won the first set, 7-5 and then fell 5-7 in the second. In the tiebreaker, Trkulja just fell short, 10-8.
