LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's tennis team traveled to Loyola Marymount earlier this afternoon for a conference dual match. Entering today's match, the Zags had won the four previous matchups against the Lions, a streak dating back to the 2019 season.
 
Opening today's match with the doubles competition, Loyola Marymount earned an early victory on court three, as Yassine Smiej and Max Wuelfing defeated Gonzaga's Oliver Andersson and Gus Krauel by a score of 6-2. In the No.2 spot, Loyola Marymount clinched the doubles point as Toky Ranaivo and Inig Diaz Ibarguengoitia claimed a 7-5 win over Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan and Leon Roider.
 
With Loyola Marymount having already clinched the doubles competition, the court one match between Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja and Matthew Hollingworth and Loyola Marymount's Sebastian Nothhaft and Arthur Pantino went unfinished, ending with a score of 5-6.
 
Transitioning to the singles competition, Loyola Marymount expanded their lead when Nothhaft earned a 6-2, 6-1 court three victory against Roider. Shortly after, Pantino claimed a 6-3, 7-5 win over Trkulja on court one. In the No.5 spot, Loyola Marymount clinched the team victory when Wuelfing defeated Rashed by a score of 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.
 
With the team victory already clinched, the three remaining singles matches went unfinished.
 
Up next: Following today's match, the Gonzaga men's tennis team will face San Diego on April 14th at 12 pm. The Zags will conclude their regular season schedule at home next weekend, as they will play Pacific on April 19th and Santa Clara on April 21st.
