GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Gonzaga men's golf finished the Loyola Intercollegiate in fourth place at four-under (860) Tuesday. The event was held at the Palm Valley Golf Course and was hosted by Loyola University (Md.).
The Bulldogs were one-under (287) in the final round, after a six-under (282) in Round 2. GU opened the event with a 291 (+3) team total in the first round Sunday. The Zags were 16-over (3.27) on the course's Par-3 holes, which ranked fifth in the 19-team field.
Bruce Chang led Gonzaga with a 24
th place finish at two-under (214). He rose two spots on the leaderboard in the final round after a 71 (-1). The sophomore carded a 69 (-3) in the second round. He was eighth in the 116-golfer field on Par-4 holes at three-under (3.90). Chang made seven birdies on Day 3, following a second round that featured four birdies and 13 pars.
Ethan Flynn and
Charlie Olson were 28
th at one-under (215). Olson climbed 14 spots on the final day at two-under (70). Flynn carded a 69 (-3) in the second round.
Guillermo Polo Bodart tied for 48
th at two-over (218).
Daniel Nunez finished in 91
st at 11-over (227).
Daniel Kim placed 81
st at eight-over (224).
Richmond won the team title at 29-under (835). Boise State was second at 19-under (845). Boise State's Cole Rueck took medalist honors with a 16-under (200) finish.
Gonzaga has a break before traveling to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Surf Club Invitational March 10-11. The event hosted by Appalachian State will be played at the Surf Golf and Beach Club. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
