SPOKANE, Wash.- Gonzaga men's Cross Country and Track Coach Pat Tyson announced the signing of Dylan Rowell on Monday, with the Washington state champion staying in-state for his collegiate career.

Tyson described Rowell as "a great team guy that knows how to win!" He added that this would be a big addition to the Zags roster, declaring that "We got a good one!"

Rowell is a four time state champion, having won both the 1600 and 3200 state titles in Washington 2A as a junior last season. He also won the Washington 2A Cross Country championship twice. He has a personal best 1600 time of 4:10.90 and a 3200 time of 8:57.99.

Dylan Rowell said he "chose to continue my academic and athletic career at Gonzaga because of the elite coaching, amazing team culture, and the endless opportunities that will come on and off the track. I am excited to be joining the best program in the country!"

Rowell ran at Anacortes High School, where he was teammates with current Zag runners Jessica Frydenlund and Aiden Miller. Rowell holds the school record times in the 800 meters, 3200 meters, Cross Country 5k, as well as being part of school record teams in the 4x400 and 4x800 relay. He will look to defend both of his state championships during the spring track season of his senior year before he joins the Zags next season.
