FAIRFIELD, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's golf team concluded its season with a 12
th place finish at the 2026 West Coast Conference Championships Saturday. The 54-hole annual event was held at the Green Valley Country Club.
The Bulldogs'
Guillermo Polo Bodart and
Michael Vienneau both tied for 23
rd place at two-over (215). Vienneau opened the tournament carding a 70 (-1) in Round 1, the lowest round by a GU player in the event. Polo Bodart was even-par (71) in the first and third rounds.
Jayden Lizama tied for 46
th at seven-over (220). He tied for seventh in the 60-golfer field on the course's Par-3 holes at one-under (2.92). The freshman eagled the Par-5 15
th Hole in the final round.
Ethan Flynn (+10, 223) and
Charlie Olson (+13, 226) were 53
rd and 55
th. The Zags were 20-over (872) as a team.
Polo Bodart ends his career with a new program-best 73.04 scoring average in his 112 rounds. Flynn ranks fourth with a 73.81 career average through 119 rounds. This season's Gonzaga squad finished with a 291.66 season scoring average, which ranks third in program history. Vienneau's 72.96 season scoring average is seventh all-time at GU.
San Diego's Ian Maspat was the WCC Individual Champion with a 15-under 198 for three rounds as stroke play concluded Saturday.
San Diego, Pepperdine, Augusta and Oregon State each advanced to Sunday's match play semifinals as the top four teams at the conclusion of stroke play. San Diego earned the No. 1 seed, finishing 22-under in stroke play. Defending West Coast Conference Champion Pepperdine is the No. 2 seed after concluding stroke play 18-under. Augusta is the No. 3 seed after finishing stroke play 13-under, and Oregon State is the No. 4 seed after finishing 12-under in stroke play. San Diego will meet Oregon State and Pepperdine will face Augusta in the semifinals. The winners of those matchups will meet in the match play championship Sunday afternoon to determine the West Coast Conference Team Championship.
Maspat, who led after Friday's two rounds, finished on top with a 5-under 66 in Saturday's third round. He was challenged by Oregon State's Nguyen Anh Minh, who started off Saturday's round with five birdies on his first seven holes. Anh Minh moved into a tie for first with Maspat at one point, but Maspat responded with a birdie on the 13th hole to retake sole possession of first place and the San Diego golfer finished strong to capture the individual title. Anh Minh finished the day with a 6-under 65.
Maspat finished with a 15-under 198 (68-64-66) to win the conference individual title by three strokes over Anh Minh's 12-under 201 (69-67-65). Maspat totaled an eagle and 18 birdies over the three rounds of stroke play.
