SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team closed regular season play at home as they defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles 7-0 Tuedsay afternoon at the Martin Courts.

Seniors Shaun Whitney and Brendan Cunningham both won their singles matches during their last home appearance as Whitney beat Shane Caskey 7-5, 1-6, 6-1 while Cunningham defeated Nick Farline 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.

The Bulldogs swept the Eagles in doubles play earning the point. Bryce Cooper and Drew Ernst defeated Eric Eggers and Caskey 8-1 in No. 1 action while the duo of Robert Penney and Reid Arthur downed Anthoney Veneable and Brandon Hair 8-6. Cunningham and Whitney sealed the sweep with an 8-0 victory over Troy Handework and Farline.

In singles action Cooper defeated Venable 6-0, 6-0 in the first spot while Arthur defeated Eggers 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3.

Ernst and Penney rounded out the fourth and fifth spot wins in two sets.

Gonzaga heads to the West Coast Conference Tournament Friday at the University of San Diego.
