SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team ended their 2005 home season on a high note as the Bulldogs picked up a 6-1 victory over local rival Eastern Washington University on Wednesday afternoon. Gonzaga will play one final regular-season match this weekend at the University of Idaho prior to competing in the West Coast Conference championships.
Senior Dru Ernst partnered with Reid Arthur to rally in number one doubles action as the Bulldogs won 8-6 to capture the doubles point. Cooper Fratt and Brett Womack teamed up to win at No. 2 doubles while Eastern Washington won at No. 3.
Ernst was not as fortunate in singles play during his final home match as he lost to Patrick Millican in No. 2 singles play, 6-4, 7-5. The Bulldogs swept through the other five seeded matches with all five players winning in two sets. Gonzaga improves to 4-13 on the season.
