LEWISTON, Ida.- The Gonzaga University women's tennis team improves to 2-8 winning two matches on Saturday afternoon against Lewis-Clark State and Calgary. The Bulldogs defeated Lewis-Clark State, 4-3, with outstanding performances by Emily Anderson, Erin Humphrey, Courtney Lau, and Sydney Lederhouse.
Sydney Lederhouse played her first singles match of the season and picked up the decisive point at No. 6 singles against LCSC Ana Cornea. Lederhouse defeated Cornea 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-1.
The Bulldogs took four out of the six singles matches against Lewis-Clark State. Emily Anderson playing in the No. 1 spot defeated Maria Resende 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Erin Humphrey in the No. 2 position defeated Jamie Chan 6-2, 6-2. In the No. 5 position, Courtney Lau defeated Alyson Peck 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action Emily Anderson and Carrie Schofield defeated Lewis-Clark's Rachel Moorhead and Mei Fong 8-5
Gonzaga swept singles action against Calgary winning all six matches. Emily Anderson and Katie Colton both held there opponents to zero points. Anderson in the No. 1 spot defeated Kasia Kwiatkawska 6-0, 6-0. Katie Colton playing in the No. 6 position defeated Kristin Vinke 6-0, 6-0.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, March 14 against Cal State Northridge at 2:00 p.m.
