Spokane, Wash. - Four Zags earned singles points as Gonzaga University men's tennis team posted a big 5-2 win over the University of Idaho Friday night at the Spokane Racquet Club in Spokane, Wash.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-6 with the victory, while the Vandals fall to 10-7 for the season.
Gonzaga opened play by earning the doubles point after sweeping all three matches. Zack Radetzky and Stefan Feddersen combined at No. 1 to defeated Stanislav Glukhov and Andrey Potapkin 8-6, while in the No. 2 slot, Charles Adams and Roman Dojcak downed Robert Chalkley and Timothy Huynh 9-8. Wrapping up doubles action, at No. 3, Conor Feeney and Cooper Fratt defeated Andrew Dobbs and Hugh McDonald 8-6.
The Zags continued to surprise the Vandals in singles play, after taking both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Playing No. 1, Feddersen earned a s7-5, 6-2 straight set victory over Potapkin before Dojcak posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win against Glukhov. Gonzaga continued its winning ways, handing losses to Idaho at the No. 4 and 5 positions. Feeney, playing No. 4, earned a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Huynh as Fratt posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 over McDonald. The Vandals lone points came at the No. 3 and 6 spots as Radetzky fell to Chalkley 6-2, 6-4 and Adams dropped a three-set decision, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7, to Dobbs.
The Bulldogs will return to action when they host the University of Northern Colorado on March 7 at 6 p.m. at the SRC.
