Bulldogs Finish Tied For Fifth In Kaua'i Collegiate

LIHUE, Kaua'i - Gonzaga University's men's golf team dropped one spot Wednesday to finish tied for fifth at the Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational at Puakea Golf Course.

The Bulldogs entered the final round in fourth place just two shots out of second. The Bulldogs shot a final-round 296 for their highest round of the 54-hole event and finished at 871 and tied with the University of Utah, two shots out of fourth.

The University of San Diego finished with an 829 and an easy 30-stroke victory over James Madison University.

Derek Cheney turned in a second-straight 73 over the 6,953-yard, par 72 layout to go with a personal best opening-round 68 to finish at 214 and tied for 15th. Kyle Huus shot a final-round 74, sandwiching a pair of 74's around a second-round 69 to finish 19th at 214. Travis Johnsen, who shot a 68 Tuesday, carded a 77 Wednesday to tie for 23rd at 219 and Jason Azzarito posted a 72 for the best Bulldog round Wednesday to finish at 222 and tie for 28th.

The tournament concluded the Bulldogs fall season.
