Men's Tennis Heads To EWU For Midweek Showdown

SPOKANE, Wash. - (Feb. 21, 2012 - www.gozags.com) - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team returns to action Wednesday as it heads to nearby Cheney to face cross-town rival Eastern Washington University at 5 p.m.

HEAD COACH PETER MACDONALD'S THOUGHTS ABOUT THE MATCH: "It should be a really good match. We have played tough battles with Eagles in the past and tomorrow will be another one."

LAST TIME VERSUS THE EAGLES: Gonzaga University lost two matches to Eastern Washington University a year ago, 4-3 in Spokane and 4-2 in Cheney. Levin Guillermo and Scott Sullivan led the effort for Gonzaga by winning their singles competition in both matches.

ABOUT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington University enters the match against Gonzaga University with a 6-3 record. The Eagles return home after splitting two matches last weekend in Oregon. They lost 6-1 to the University of Oregon Friday and they blanked Portland State University 7-0 in a Big Sky Conference match Saturday. Chad Henninger leads the team in singles with a perfect 7-0 record this spring, going 2-0 at court three and 5-0 in court four. Henninger and Julian Sanchez lead the team in doubles play with four wins.
