SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's tennis seniors Zhia Hwa Chong and Sullivan cracked the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Top 90 doubles team for the first time in program history this week, checking in at No. 79.
Chong and Sullivan, who together are 13-6 overall and 12-5 in the spring season, are coming off back-to-back wins at the No.1 spot against two West Coast Conference opponents in Southern California last weekend. The two upset then fourth-ranked Finn Tearney and Alex Llompart of then No. 8 Pepperdine University 4-3 at the last Saturday, and less than 24 hours later they picked up their second win over Loyola Marymount University's Felix Vann Kahn and Alex Wilton by a score of 8-2.
The Bulldogs close out the regular-season with three matches at the Spokane Racquet Club this weekend starting with WCC foes University of San Francisco Friday at noon. The Bulldogs will then play a tough match against 30th-ranked Santa Clara University Saturday at 11 a.m., before finishing the regular-season with a non-conference match against Lewis-Clark State College Sunday at noon.
