LAST TIME OUT:

  • The Zags saw their school-record 11-match win streak snapped at San Francisco April 2 with a narrow 4-2 loss, but they bounced back to beat Santa Clara for their fifth sweep of the season a day later. Freshmen Nevada Apollo and Domonique Garley each went 2-0 in singles play over the weekend with Garley posting the clinching point against the Broncos. Samantha Polayes also won her singles match at SCU.

TABLE TOPPERS:

  • The three teams atop the WCC standings will be in Spokane this weekend as the Bulldogs, who are second in the league table, host third-place Loyola Marymount on Friday and first-place Pepperdine Saturday.
  • Most of the conference's most successful players will also be at The Stevens Center this weekend as Waves and Bulldogs occupy the top eight slots on the conference's overall wins list. The Waves' Luisa Stefani tops the list at 28, but Zags take the next three spots with Garley and Sophie Whittle second at 22 and Apollo fourth at 21. Fifth is Pepperdine's Dzina Milovanovich with 19, while Polayes, Graciela Rosas, and Alex Bourguignon are all tied for sixth at 17 singles wins in 2015-16.

HOME SWEET HOME:

  • The Zags return to The Stevens Center, where they're 8-0 on the year with three 7-0 wins. Since the building opened in January 2014, Gonzaga has posted a 22-10 record (.688) in dual matches.
  • Three Zags are undefeated in home duals this year with Garley and Rosas a perfect 8-0 while Apollo is just a half-game back at 7-0; her match against Dana Oppinger of San Diego was left unfinished, but the Las Vegas native held a lead at the point of stoppage. The Bulldogs have combined for an .826 win percentage (38-8) in singles play, and they're also 17-7 in doubles. Both pairs of Polayes/Whittle and Sissi Koehler/Garley are 6-2 in The Stevens Center, while Melanie Yates and Bourguignon are 5-2.
