SALEM, Ore. - Gonzaga's
Shelby Mills broke her own 3,000-meter steeplechase program record at the West Coast Invitational Thursday.
Mills easily won the race on Willamette University's Charles Bowles Track with a time of 9:56.17. Her finish was 10 seconds faster than her previous personal record. It also moved her to fourth in the west region and ninth in the country currently. The redshirt junior was just three seconds off of an Olympic Trials qualifying mark.
"It was fun to get to just click away the laps while hearing the splits," Mills said. "My teammates and coaches were pulling me through and helping me break that 10-minute barrier. So, now it's on to the next goal to PR by a few more seconds!"
Kellen Manley is now in a great spot for the NCAA West Preliminaries and moved from third to second on the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase all-time list. He placed second in the race at 8:57.75, nearly five seconds faster than his previous personal record, and is currently 36

Henry Morris improved his 10th-best mark in program history to 9:43.81. He placed 10th in the race.
Graham Wendle came in eighth at 9:37.69.
"It was a classic Willamette Valley twilight evening," Director of GU Track
Pat Tyson said. "It was perfect conditions with no wind on a fast track. The Zags were engaged and competitive! Kellen was awesome! Casey and Kyle were so close. They competed and are disappointed, but they went after it!"
In the men's 1,500 meters,
Mason Villarma cruised to a first place finish with a time of 3:46.05. The freshman's time ranks third in program history.
Zac Garrard (3:47.63, 3

Molly Foster set the new women's 400-meter hurdle program record with a three-second personal record. The freshman placed third at 1:07.08.
Matthew Crichlow (30:08.72) and
Jack Pearce (30:16.62) placed fifth and sixth in the men's 10,000 meters. Pearce improved his sixth-fastest time in program history.
Max Kaderabek (30:26.42, 8

"Emily had a season's best in the 800 and in the 1,500," GU women's Head Coach
Patty Ley said. "A season's best for Zoe led
Jenny Albrecht,
Kate Wagner and
Emily Coic to personal records. In our final event of the night, the two freshmen Amanda (Kiefer) and Kelly (Gilbert) competed extremely well to finish the year with big personal records."
Gonzaga wraps up the regular season at the Portland Twilight Sunday. It will be final chance for a select number of Zags to hit qualifying marks for the NCAA West Preliminaries.
"We will decide tomorrow who we will take down to Portland," Ley said. "But, this was a nice finish to the regular season for most of our young women!"
