MTEN Signs Kyle Everly to NLI

May 4, 2016

SPOKANE, Wash.--Gonzaga men's tennis head coach Peter MacDonald announced the signing of Kyle Everly to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday. Everly will join the Bulldogs this fall for the 2016-17 season.

Everly joins incoming three incoming freshmen as the Bulldogs' Class of 2020. Samuel Feit, Simon Homedes, and Vincent Rettke each signed NLIs in November 2015 and will join Everly and the rest of the GU men's tennis team this coming August.

Kyle Everly | Acalanes HS | Lafayette, Calif.

Everly joins the Zags after a solid career at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Calif. He's finished second in the Diablo Foothills Athletic League Championship in each of the last two years, both as a senior and a junior. He's also a two-time All-DFAL First Teamer, earning the honor as a sophomore in 2014 and junior in 2015 (this year's team has yet to be released), and he picked up Second Team All-DFAL honors in his freshman season.

In USTA play, Everly has seen success around the state of California, reaching the semifinals of the Johnson Ranch Junior Singles Championships this last February and the finals of the Cupertino 18s Junior Age Up Championships in December of 2015. In July 2015, he and his doubles partner won the Fremont 18s Junior Ages Up Championships.

Why Everly chose Gonzaga: "It's been a dream of mine to play college tennis and Gonzaga offered me the opportunity to play tennis, receive an outstanding education and be part of a school with great school spirit. I loved the community when I visited campus and could envision myself being on the team. I think Coach MacDonald and Coach Siddiqui will be able to help me reach my fullest potential as a player. The new tennis center and state-of-the-art athletic facilities were impressive and definitely an added bonus. I am also excited to know that my family will be able to come watch me and my teammates play when we are in Northern California."

Coach MacDonald on Everly: "We're very excited to add Kyle to the Gonzaga Men's Tennis family. Kyle is very passionate about his tennis and works hard on and off the court to develop his game. He will make a great teammate because he gets it when it comes to college tennis."
