SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Santa Clara Broncos played the full 110 minutes in a 0-0 double-overtime draw on Sunday afternoon at Luger Field.
The Zags celebrated their seven seniors pregame and led in shots 16-13 when the match was over. In the 76th minute Joe Corner got a good look for the Zags, but his shot was deflected wide. Colton Cavey had two good runs at the goal with headers, once in the 79th minute and again in the 101st, but was unable to connect fully. GU keeper Ben Willis made five saves, with two sliding saves to obstruct a loose SCU attacker and one midway through the second half where SCU made a sliding attempt in front of the goal. Cavey tied with Matt Kintzle for the team lead with three shots each.
Willis, Cavey, Jalen Crisler, Nick Ulowetz, Sam Olson, Ben White, Christo Michaelson, and Connor Ourada all played their final games at Luger Field.
The Bulldogs (6-7-2, 0-4-1 WCC) have two games left in their season, with one road match in each of the coming weeks. That begins with Portland at 7 pm next Saturday night.
