FULL RESULTS

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Gonzaga Bulldogs broke into the water for the first time this spring on Friday against San Diego, UC San Diego, and Santa Clara on Mission Bay.

The Zags' varsity eight boat finished fourth, four seconds back of third-place UCSD. The Zags' second varsity eight boat also took fourth, but the novice eight boat came in second place, just three seconds behind first-place Santa Clara. GU finished second in the third varsity eight race behind Santa Clara in the one-on-one race.

"The guys raced hard this morning," Gonzaga head coach Dan Gehn said. "Our lack of water time showed, so the results weren't what we were hoping, but there were some good building block portions of each race. A tip of the hat to the novice eight which battled all the way down for a second place finish."

The Bulldogs return to the water tomorrow and will scrimmage against boats from USD and UCSD back on Mission Bay.
