Men’s Tennis Concludes Play at ITA Northwest Regionals

O’Sullivan, Feit fall in singles, doubles

SEATTLE – The Gonzaga men's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Northwest Regional Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs' final two competitors, Ruadhan O'Sullivan and Sam Feit, fell in both singles and doubles competition.

O'Sullivan and Feit opened the day with doubles play, and the pair battled 27th-ranked Kawika Lam and Enzo Sommer of Washington to a tiebreaker; the tiebreaker ended in favor of the Huskies as they pulled off the win 8-7(2) to advance to the semifinals.

"Today we came up short after being up big in doubles against the top-seeded Washington doubles team," said head men's tennis coach Jonas Piibor. "We need to learn how to finish matches; it's all part of the process we are working on."

In singles play, Feit fell to Stanford's William Genesen in two sets, 6-3, 6-2. O'Sullivan battled Oregon's Emmanuel Coste for three sets, claiming the first set 7-6 before falling 6-1 and 6-3 in the final two sets.

"We fought well in singles, but we could have played better," Piibor said. "There are a lot of positives we can take from this weekend, and I know the guys are eager to get back to work Monday morning and embrace the process."

Gonzaga returns to Spokane to host the Gonzaga Invitational Oct. 26-28 at The Stevens Center. Live streaming will be available at GoZags.com.
