SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga men's tennis player
Sam Feit was named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week with a pair of straight-set wins, helping his team move to 6-0 on the year.
Feit's straight-set victories came at Gonzaga's No. 1 singles spot this week. Feit defeated Idaho's Mark Kovacs, 6-2, 6-3, on Tuesday, and then was the match clincher against UC Davis when he downed the Aggies' Ivan Thamma, 6-4, 6-4.
The victories pushed Feit's season record to 15-4 overall, including a 5-0 mark in singles play. His five singles wins are part of GU's 34-0 mark on singles courts in dual-match play.
Feit is the first Gonzaga player to win a WCC weekly award since he and Ruadhan O'Sullivan were named the Doubles Team of the Week on March 21, 2017. He's the first Zag to win Singles Player of the Week since Alvaro Nazal on March 24, 2015.
Gonzaga will be back on the road at Oregon on Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. Stay tuned to GoZags.com for links to follow the match.
