SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's tennis team put together its second-straight sweep with a 7-0 victory over visiting Eastern Washington Saturday evening inside the Stevens Center. GU improves to 2-0 on the season with the victory.
"It was another opportunity for us to compete and get better," Head Coach
Jonas Piibor said. "I like the way we continue to grow stronger as a team. Eastern Washington is a well-coached team, and I have a lot of respect for them."
Sasha Trkulja and
Oliver Andersson started things off for the Zags at No. 2 doubles, defeating EWU's Wout Doumen and Bruno Ortega 6-0.
Matthew Perkins and
Hunter Egger clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a 6-1 victory over the Eagles at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Trkulja made quick work of EWU's Ortega at No. 3 singles, picking up the 6-1, 6-0 victory. The Zags clinched the victory at No. 1 singles, where
Matthew Hollingworth defeated Martin Bats 6-2, 6-0 to put GU up 4-0 in the match.

Theo McDonald and
Pablo Gomez Galvan each collected victories at the No. 2, 4 and 6 positions to secure the 7-0 sweep for the Bulldogs.
"I think we still have a lot of areas to improve on, and I really look forward to get to practice on Monday and have the opportunity to continue to work on our craft with these guys."
