TUCSON, Arizona - Today marked the final day of the Arizona Wildcat Open for the Gonzaga men's tennis team as multiple Zags won their bracket.
The Bulldogs built on previous success in today's doubles finals at the Arizona Wildcat Open. Facing University of Arizona's Eric Padgham and Jay Friend, Gonzaga's Matthew Hollingworth and Sasha Trkulja earned a 6-4 victory to open the day for the Zags to win their side of the bracket.
In the closest doubles match of the day, Gonzaga's Leon Roider and Oliver Andersson claimed a gutsy 7-6 win over University of Arizona's Dominique Rolland and Jared Horwood. Roider and Andersson were down 0-5 in the match but stormed back to complete the comeback over Arizona to win their part of the bracket.
As the singles competition opened, the Gonzaga men's tennis team battled to finish the tournament strong. Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan lost his singles match 7-5, 6-1 against Horwood. In a back-and-forth match, Hollingworth claimed a 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 win against Rolland.
Northern Arizona University's Maikel de Boes defeated Roider 6-2, 6-3 in their singles match. Trkulja had a three-set battle against Arizona's Jay Friend, but fell 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.

Today's matches conclude the Arizona Wildcat Open for the Gonzaga men's tennis team. The Zags' next fall tournament will begin on Oct. 1, when they travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to participate in the ITA All-Americans.
