MTEN: Zags Shine at Day One of ITA North Regionals

SEATTLE, Wash. --  The Gonzaga men's tennis team began their participation in the ITA North Regionals earlier today. This is the third consecutive season the Zags have performed in the ITA North Regionals, with the tournament having been hosted in Spokane last season.

Gonzaga started the singles competition strong, picking up an early victory when Tom Dunlop defeated Portland State's Jonas Mathiasen by a score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 64. Later in the afternoon, Dunlap battled, but dropped his Round of 32 match against Washington's Jim Hendrikx by a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Also in the Round of 32, Gonzaga's Gus Krauel clinched a comeback victory against Portland's Stefan Skobelev, winning by a score of 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. Gonzaga Leon Roider lost his Round of 32 match to Portland's Nikola Keremedchiev by a score of 6-1, 7-6. Closing out the day was Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan, who claimed a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the Round of 32 against Portland State's Andrea Brignacca.
