SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Earlier this afternoon, the Gonzaga men's tennis team had a conference dual match against the University of San Francisco and won 4-2. Entering that match, Gonzaga had won three of the previous four matchups, with the only loss occurring during the 2021 spring season.
Opening with the doubles competition, Gonzaga got off to a dominant start when
Sasha Trkulja and
Matthew Hollingworth claimed a 6-3 court one win over San Francisco's Johan Garpered and Nil Giraldez. Gonzaga clinched the doubles point when Arthus Bassetiere and
Leon Roider defeated San Francisco's Nikola Kuraica and Moritz Hoffmann by a score of 6-3 in the No.2 spot.
With the doubles point already clinched for the Zags, the court three match between Gonzaga's
Tom Hann and
Pablo Gomez Galvan and San Francisco's Stevie Gould and Davide Cortimiglia went unfinished, ending with a score of 4-4.
Transitioning to the singles matches, San Francisco tied the competition when Hoffmann earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Gonzaga's
Oliver Andersson on court two. Shortly after, Kuraica clinched a 6-4, 6-4 court four win over Hollingworth. Gonzaga battled back, tying the competition when Roider defeated Garpered by a score of 6-2, 6-4 on court six.
With the competition tied, Hann earned Gonzaga their third team point of the day when he picked up a 6-2, 6-3 court five win against Cortimiglia. In the No. 3 spot, Gonzaga clinched the team victory when Bassetiere defeated Gould by a score of 7-5, 6-2.
With the team victory already clinched by Gonzaga, the court one singles match between Trkulja and Giraldez went unfinished, ending with a score of 4-6, 4-2.
Up next: Following today's victory, the Gonzaga men's tennis team will remain in California, as they are scheduled to face Santa Clara on April 1st at 11 a.m. The Zags will return to the Stevens Center on April 7 when they are scheduled to go against Pepperdine at 1 p.m. in the Stevens Center.

Records: Today's win improves the season record for the Zags to 7-7. For San Francisco, their record on the year drops to 2-12 following today's loss. The historical record between the Zags and Dons also moves to 10-15 in favor of San Francisco.
