SEATTLE, Wash. – A Gonzaga men's tennis duo won two electrifying matches on Saturday, advancing to the doubles quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
Jay Fairclough/Giovanni Branchetti earned their spot in the region's final eight with close victories over Pacific (8-7) and Oregon (8-5). The first bout needed a tiebreaker to decide the winner, with Fairclough/Branchetti surviving 7-5.
Kai-Luca Ampaw/Gus Krauel fell 8-5 in the doubles Round of 32, while Fairclough and Oscar Rashed each dropped their singles matches in the same round.
Up next: Competition continues through Oct. 22 at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Washington. The two singles finalists and one doubles champion from this region will qualify for next month's NCAA Singles Championship and NCAA Doubles Championship in Waco, Texas.
