Branchetti and Fairclough Compete at ITA Sectional Championships

The Bulldogs host the Gonzaga Invitational starting tomorrow

MALIBU, Calif. – A Gonzaga men's tennis doubles team competed today in the ITA West Sectional Championships at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

Giovanni Branchetti and Jay Fairclough paired up to face a duo from the host Pepperdine, ultimately falling 14-12 in a deciding super tiebreaker. The Zags dropped the first set 6-4, then stormed back 6-1 in the next frame.

During the fall season, the men's team has a 17-18 record in doubles matches and a 29-30 showing in singles. Branchetti and Fairclough are now 9-4 when paired up after starting 8-0, including a win over #13 UC Berkeley in the quarterfinals of last month's ITA Northwest Regional Championships.

Up next: The Bulldogs conclude their fall schedule with the Gonzaga Fall Invite, starting tomorrow at the Stevens Center.
