TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Gonzaga men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Wildcat Invite on Sunday afternoon.
In singles competition,
Gus Krauel defeated Ricardo Mercado from New Mexico State in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Giovanni Branchetti had a three-set battle with New Mexico State's Tobias Wallin, but fell 3-6, 7-5, 3-10.
Jay Fairclough also had a tight match against NMSU's Patrick Lohmann, but ended up dropping the match, 7-6 (0-5), 6-4.
Tom Dunlop also competed in the third day with a match against Northern Arizona's Semen Aginsky and fell, 7-5, 6-4.
Kai-Luca Ampaw competed against Grand Canyon's Paolo Rosati as GCU came out on top, 6-3, 6-2.
Fabio Stapper wrapped up the competition for the Bulldogs with a match against NAU's Takumi Katsuda. NAU won the match, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bulldogs had three matches in doubles in the final day as well. Fairclough and Ampaw teamed up to play Arizona and fell 6-3. Krauel and Dunlop also teamed up to play NAU and fell 6-2. Wrapping up doubles play was Branchetti and Stapper, who played New Mexico, but dropped the match, 6-3.
