SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga track split squads on Friday, racing at both the Whitworth Peace Meet and Stanford Invitational. A handful of Bulldogs raced late Friday afternoon at Whitworth while others competed late into the night on Stanford's Cobb Track.
At Whitworth, the 3000-meter Steeplechase led off the day for GU, with a pair of Zag women competing in the lone heat.
Kate Donaldson placed second in 11:24.55 and
Camille Broadbent placed third in 11:28.95, setting a PR and entering the program Top Ten at number eight all time.
Anna Lanigan won the 1500m with a time of 4:33.29, while
Nina Yeats placed fifth in 4:35.50.
Tate Beasley just missed the top ten, placing 11th in 4:38.51.
On the men's side,
Tommy O'Neil placed ninth in the 1500m with a time of 3:57.48.
Brenden Charbeneau placed 19th in 4:01.01 and
James Powers placed 57th in 4:25.11.
Greta Dani made her collegiate outdoor 400m debut, dipping below one minute with a time of 59.37 to notch the fifth-fastest time in program history.
Ashlinn Aguayo placed 13th in 59.52 and
Presley Smith placed 16th in 1:00.40.
Anika Jones led the charge for GU in the 5000m, placing second with a 35-second PR, a time of 17:42.21.
Jasmine Nguyen cracked the top five, placing fifth in 17:49.04.
Samy Anderson was one of three athletes to break the previous Boppell Track record in the men's 5000m, placing third overall in 14:11.07. The Bulldogs placed third through seventh in total:
Aidan Baughan (Fourth, 14:25.97),
Will Thorsett (Fifth, 14:27.11),
Joshua Augustine (Sixth, 14:27.71), and
Ansel Tucker (Seventh, 14:28.02).
The Zag women closed out the evening in the 4x400m relay, placing eighth overall in 4:08.05.
