EUGENE, Ore.- Gonzaga Men's Track had an incredibly successful day at historic Hayward Field in the Oregon Twilight meet, with
Logan Schwartz running the fastest 1500 meters in program history.
Schwartz, the 2025 WCC Freshman of the Year for the Cross Country season, smashed the 1500 meter record by over a second with a time of 3:41.20. Schwartz ran every lap in under a minute, a pace that would have broken a four minute mile, as Schwartz broke his own personal best time by nearly four seconds.
Logan Law and
Paul Talens ran a great 3,000 steeplechase, finishing in respective times of 8:43.23 and 8:47.19. Law joins former All-American Troy Fraley as the only other Zags to run multiple races at or below 8:43. Talens moved up to the 6th fastest time in program history with his new personal best time. Law and Talens' times currently fall in the qualifying range for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West Regionals.
Ryan Mitchell also ran a solid time in the 1500 meters in a tactical race in his heat, beating Olympian and former NCAA Champion Justyn Knight with a big move at the end of their race to finish in 3:47.60.
Will Thorsett ran a career best time of 3:49.88 in his first ever run at Hayward, while
Mason Kissell finished right behind with a time of 3:49.90.
Hayden Roberts rounded out the night's results with a solid time of 1:51.32 in the 800 meters.
Gonzaga Men's Track will look to keep putting up new program best times when they travel to Portland for the Portland Last Chance Meet next weekend.
