Complete 54-Hole Results in PDF Format

VALLEJO, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team shot a final-round 320 Tuesday at the West Coast Conference Championship at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club to finish tied for sixth with the University of Portland at 943.

Bulldog head coach Robert Gray was disappointed his squad couldn't hold a 4-stroke edge over the Pilots heading into Tuesday's final round to claim sole possession of sixth.

"Plain and simple we just didn't play well this week," Gray said. "We had been playing really well coming in, so it's disappointing. But we just didn't get it done the last two days."

Junior Kyle Huus shot a final-round 77 over the windy 6,762-yard, par 72 final-round layout to finish at 230 and tied for 17th to pace the Bulldogs. Huus was the steadiest golfer of the tourney for the Bulldogs with rounds of 76-77 in Monday's 36-holes. Senior Derek Cheney finished his career with a 78 to go with Monday's rounds of 79-74 to finish tied for 21st at 231 and fellow senior Jason Azzarito shot an 83 Tuesday for a 54-hole score of 254 and a tie for 34th. Azzarito shot 81-79 Monday. Junior Francisco Santiago finished at 240 and tied for 32nd with rounds of 79-79-82 and freshman Kevin PArkhurst finished with an 84 to go with Monday's pair of 80s to finish 36th at 244.

"Derek and Jason ended their Bulldog careers this week. They've made some big contributions to the program and I know they'll go on to represent Gonzaga well in their future endeavors," Gray said.

Pepperdine University had three golfers in the top 10 and captured the team title with an 887 for a 5-shot victory over the University of San Diego. Gunner Wiebe of USD claimed medalist honors at 216 for a 2-stroke victory over Carl Smith IV of Pepperdine. Wiebe had rounds of 73-71-72.
