SPOKANE, Wash.--The Gonzaga men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to BYU Saturday afternoon at The Stevens Center, suffering their first West Coast Conference sweep of the season.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs hung tough with the Cougars through much of the match. In doubles play, Kyle Everly and Vincent Rettke picked up a 6-4 win on court two, downing Aidan Carrazedo and Jacob Sullivan to even the pairs competition at one match apiece. On court one, however, Ruadhan O'Sullivan and Sam Feit's comeback fell short as they lost 7-5 to the Cougars' John Pearce and Keaton Cullimore.

In singles play, the Bulldogs battled through the first set but lost the first three matches to finish. Four of the six first sets saw either a set tiebreak or extra game, and both Rettke and Feit won their tiebreaks for an early advantage. O'Sullivan and Everly, meanwhile, forced an extra game before losing their first sets 7-5.

On the other two courts, courts four and six, the Cougars picked up two-set victories for a 3-0 dual advantage. They clinched the match when O'Sullivan lost his second set 6-2 to Cullimore atop the singles lineup.

Three matches were left unfinished, including Feit's contest on court three. The Los Angeles native was just one game away from victory at 7-6 (5), 5-4, when the match ended.

Gonzaga (6-8, 0-4 WCC) finishes their three-match homestand next Saturday, April 8, when they host Pacific Northwest foe Portland. That contest will begin at 3:00 p.m., again at The Stevens Center.
